The Austrian federal railways (\u00d6sterreichische Bundesbahnen, \u00d6BB)<\/strong>, headquartered in Vienna, are Austria\u2019s largest mobility service provider with 42,000 employees and 287 million passengers per year.<\/p>\n

imug rating was commissioned to create external and independent Sustainability Ratings of the \u00d6BB companies \u00d6BB-Personenverkehr AG, \u00d6BB-Produktion GmbH, \u00d6BB-Technische Services GmbH, \u00d6sterreichische Postbus AG and Rail Cargo Austria AG. The creation of the ratings was carried out in coordination with the company. In a first step, imug rating analysed the sustainability performance<\/strong> based on publicly available information. Internal documents<\/strong> provided by the company were included in the analysis additionally. Last missing information was collected by means of a questionnaire<\/strong>. The assessments are updated annually.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The methodology and areas of assessment of a Sustainability Rating follow international guiding principles for sustainable development<\/strong>: companies should operate responsibly, achieve positive sustainability impacts and prevent risky or controversial behaviour. The analysis approach follows the principle of materiality<\/strong> and addresses specific industry challenges as well as opportunities. For mobility service providers, for example, the focus is on measures for CO2<\/sub> reduction, but also on operational and occupational safety. The core business of rail transport for passengers and goods is considered positive from a sustainability perspective.<\/p>\n

The sustainability performance of the five \u00d6BB subsidiaries is rated as \u201cvery good\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
